Today, Wednesday November 8th, the Sieger White Award 2022 and the first copy of Myriad Ways of Being ~ Being of Myriad Ways. Simone Albers will be presented to the artist at Gallery Maurits van de Laar, this event also marks the opening of the eponymous exhibition at the gallery (November 1st - 25th 2023).

After the book launch and exhibition opening of The Artist as Explorer | Madelon Hooykaas at Landhuis Oud Amelisweerd, which is on view until November 12th, Madelon Hooykaas presented her new interactive publication during Eye on Art: Madelon Hooykaas - The Artist as Explorer at the Eye Filmmuseum in Amsterdam. This evening featured six short films and videos, a Q&A by art historian and curator Jacqueline Grandjean. 

Last month Interwoven. Diana Scherer. Excersises in Root System Domestication, an innovative research in grown plant root textiles and material by artist Diana Scherer was launched in conjuction with the large solo exhibition Farming Textiles in Museum Kranenburgh in Bergen, NL (October 1, 2023 - March 10, 2024).

Last Friday, on November 3rd the monograph Jan van de Pavert. Collected Works, a richly illustrated body of work covering the artist's oeuvre of the past years launched in the garden room of the Centraal Museum in Utrecht. 

Visual artist Jonas Staal was today presented the Prix de Rome Visual Arts 2023 by Gunay Uslu, State Secretary for Culture and Media. Queen Máxima was in attendance at the awards ceremony. Staal won this year’s award for the video study Empire’s Island. The artist will receive a € 40,000 contribution and the opportunity to participate in a residency of his choice. The Prix de Rome is an incentive award for talented visual artists who convincingly offer new insights into the visual arts in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and contribute notably to its development.

Stitch Your Brain is a long-term study into the intelligence of the hand by artist and former medical doctor Monika Auch. The book reflects the results of the empirical study Auh worked on for the past decade about the importance of creating with your hands in our digital age and the effects of slow creation on neuro cognitive learning, health, and well-being.

Tomorrow, Thursday November 9th, the publication [UN]FINISHED will officially launch at HYPER HYPO in Athens, Greece. With a performative intervention by the artists followed by readings and a dialogue with art theorist Elpida Karaba, and architect Platon Issaias.

Fugitive Archives was launched first in Johannesburg at the end of last month, followed by a launch in London and now on October 19th at CCA bookstore in Montréal, QC, Canada.
