Book launch & images

Friday April 14th, together with Popma ter Steege we presented the new publication: Reuse to Reduce. Architecture within a Carbon Budget. The Case of BioPartner 5 - Popma ter Steege Architects. In this post we share imagery of the evening as well as a beautiful series of photos of the publication by The Book Photographer.

It was a great afternoon with interesting talks by a.o. Mantijn van Leeuwen, Jan Willem ter Steege, Josse Popma, Marie-Laure Hoedmakers, Paul Korthagen, Rene de Wit, Tariq Heijboer and Aaron Betsky.

Thanks to Nieuwe Instituut & NAI Booksellers for the collaboration, and buro bordo for the splendid organisation.

About the publication
Reuse to Reduce is a plea by Popma ter Steege Architects to embrace the circular transition as a chance for a more meaningful architecture. An architecture that employs the necessary reuse of building materials to rethink our needs, way of building and aesthetics. It is a plea for design shaped by planetary boundaries and the use of a carbon budget as a tool for this. It wants to help shift the discourse on circularity towards design and away from technocracy.

Text by Jan Willem ter Steege, and additional contributions by Aaron Betsky, Mantijn van Leeuwen, and Josse Popma, translation by Robert van de Walle. Design by Tariq Heijboer

Made possible by Biopartner, Universiteit Leiden, Gemeente Leiden and Stimuleringsfonds.
