Antoinette Nausikaä – slowing down in the city
In her new book, Bird, Plane, Butterfly published by Jap Sam Books, visual artist Antoinette Nausikaä invites the viewer to slow down in the dynamic and chaotic urban landscape that surrounds us. The metropolis is often seen as a symbol of acceleration, transience and alienation: a place where we are constantly inundated with a stream of impressions, information and images. Yet even in the city, it is possible to discover harmony, timelessness and a natural connection — provided we remain open and take the time to observe the wonders around us. To explore this theme, Nausikaä has collected photographs, drawings and texts during her travels through major cities around the world in recent years.
