JAPSAM Books is an independent Dutch publishing house specializing in architecture, art, philosophy, design and theory.
JAPSAM Books has been established to reflect, connect and respond to developments in these fields, by bringing out a range of critical and reflective books for an international audience.
The books that we publish are not only educational and inspirational, but also very beautifully designed, and all produced in close collaboration with our contributors.
Eleonoor Jap Sam (1968) studied Design & Communications at INHOLLAND in Rotterdam, and Art History at the University of Leiden. From 1998 until 2002 she was the director of DOCOMOMO International, an international network in 45 countries for the documentation and preservation of the architecture and urbanism of the Modern Movement and the co-editor of the DOCOMOMO Journal. She was one of the co-founders of episode publishers vof [2002-2009], independent publishers of books on art, culture, architecture and science in Rotterdam. Between 2009-2011 she worked as an advisor for the Mondriaan Foundation in the Netherlands (member of advisory committee Projects Art, Design and Cultural Heritage / member of advisory committee Programming Art and Heritage'.
