Hyperbody, initiated by Prof. Kas Oosterhuis, formulated its agenda at the Delft University of Technology. The focus of the group has been directed towards the exploration of new ways of designing and creating of non standard and interactive architecture. As a result of extensive research on software tools and application of new production techniques, Hyperbody applies cutting edge design methods and theories and communicates them in publications and teaching.
This publication not only presents a variety of the past work of Hyperbody, of which some has never before been published, but will also give a detailed overview of the most state of the art architectural researches and developments. This book will be divided into three main segments as they have been established at the group itself: Education, with an additional part about built full scale interactive student prototypes; Research, formulating goals and presenting the current Ph.D work; and collaborative projects with external offices and companies.
An additional interactive system will be delivered together with the publication, enhancing its content with movie files, real-time interactive applications and other supplementary materials. This will further emphasize the multiple interrelations between specific projects and sectors of the publication's content and, in fact, it will allow the publication to operate as a 'hyperbody'.
